I r dumb. Thank God for GMs!
Written by Brian on May 1, 2008 – 12:19 pm -Since hitting 70, I’ve been doing quite a bit of PVP to gather up some new gear. I never got around to getting the Sha’tar Rep for Stalker’s Chain Spaulders (even though I need about 300 rep) nor the Keepers of Time Rep for Stalker’s Chain Armor.
I did manage to gather quite a bit of honor, though. I gathered enough honor and tokens for three new pieces, to be exact. I bought up the first three pieces on my list – bracers (first), boots (second), belt (third).
I grabbed Vindicator’s Chain Bracers and threw +24 AP on them. I picked upVindicator’s Chain Sabatons and put Boar’s Speed on them. Then I bought Vindicator’s Linked Girdle.
Holy Strength, Batman!

Umm… why is there strength on that belt? That is the very question I asked myself when I compared it to my old belt.
When I went to the armor vendor, I apparently wasn’t paying too much attention. The Linked belt is located in the bottom row – underneath both of the Chain pieces. It seems logical that this would be the same set of items.
Of course, WoW vendors don’t meet logical standards. The Chain belt is in the right-hand column, along with the other two Linked pieces.
The end result is that I accidentally bought the Linked belt. About a minute later, I realized my mistake and started cursing at the computer.
GM! Help!!!
Although I had this sinking feeling that I was royally screwed – to the tune of 17,850 Honor and 40 AB tokens – I was hoping that I could fix the problem by opening a ticket.
I opened a ticket under “Item Issues,” and explained that I had accidentally purchased the wrong belt. I requested either to have the belts swapped or to have the Honor/Tokens refunded.
I continued to play for a while, waiting fairly patiently for the ticket to be answered. About an hour to an hour and a half later, I got a response. The GM tersely explained that we can fix the problem, explained that a “specialist” will handle it within a few days, asked if I have any more questions, and then disappeared.
Huh. Hope this specialist works out.
Tokens In the Mail

I entered the ticket Saturday night. By Sunday afternoon, the ticket was still open with no response from this so-called “specialist.”
I didn’t have time to play Monday or Tuesday, so Wednesday was the next time I hopped on. After I logged in, I had some mail waiting for me… and I was quite hopeful.
Low and behold, the letter was from customer service. The problem had been fixed, my honor had been refunded, and they sent me 40 AB tokens in the mail. Woot!
I then – very carefully – purchased my Vindicator’s Chain Girdle.
So if you screw up, don’t panic. There’s a chance that a GM may be able to help you. Hopefully.
