Sweet Spell Damage, New Tanking Weapon

Written by Brian on June 12, 2008 – 9:01 pm -

We strolled into Zul’Aman last night – for the second time – and we trounced Zul’Jin. What a punk.

Actually he wiped us a few times, and the encounter is fairly complicated. I also managed to wipe the entire raid when I pulled before a healer was up on the platform… but we did kill him. So it’s all cool.

The highlight of the night, though, is definitely my brand new Amani Punisher. /drool. This thing is awesome for tanking. I had previously been using the Crystalforged Sword, and this is a substantial upgrade in terms of spell damage, and thus threat generation.

I was saving up pvp points for an arena weapon. With the news that Arena Season 4 will be starting on June 24, I was looking forward to picking up a Merciless Gladiator’s Gavel. Now, I’m going to stick with the Amani Punisher. It doesn’t cost 25,000 Honor, and it’s roughly equal in terms of stats. The resilience is wasted on me, and the minor differences in spell damage, spell hit, stamina, and intellect all kind of trade off.

That’s one major upgrade I can scratch off my list. Hopefully another Bulwark of the Amani Empire will drop soon, and I can scratch that off the list, too. As for a weapon, I won’t be seeing another upgrade until either a Hammer of Judgement or a Tempest of Chaos drops in Hyjal. Better get used to this funny looking tuning fork.
