The DG-852 LCD projector that I ordered earlier in the week arrived today.  It seems to be pretty good quality and a great value (read my first impressions of the projector).

While I have some qualms about the projector, I am thoroughly pleased with the seller - DigitalGalaxy509.

Incredible Delivery Time

I placed my order for the projector Monday night around 7:00 PM.  I paid for it immediately with Paypal.  Within a few hours (since the day was just starting in China), the seller packed up item, registered the shipment with DHL, and provided me with a tracking number.

The item was in transit by Tuesday (Eastern Standard Time) and DHL made its first delivery attempt Thursday morning around 10 AM.  That’s less than 72 hours from time of purchase to delivery… for an item coming from China to New Jersey.

Unfortunately I didn’t get the item Thursday, because I was at school.  My wife happened to be at work that morning (normally she works second shift), so DHL had to come back out Friday morning and deliver the package.  Whoops.

Great Responsiveness and Communication

When I first checked the DHL tracking number, I thought there might be a problem.  The delivery address that DHL had was incorrect.  In place of my street, it had another city in New Jersey (S. Plainfield).  The address looked really bizarre, and I thought the seller had mislabeled the item.

As it turns out, DHL doesn’t include the real delivery address on its tracking page (I’m unsure if this is for all deliveries, or only international ones).  The strange address was an address for the local DHL facility.  From there, it was shipped to my home address.

I contacted the seller with my concern, and she responded (after contacting DHL) within the day.  She assured me that the item was coming to the right address, and low and behold it did.

The seller also promptly notified me that DHL had attempted delivery Thursday, just in case I wasn’t aware.  Overall, some thorough and great communication.

Overall: Recommended Seller

You’ll have to come to your own decision about the projector.  You may want to spend an extra couple hundred dollars and live without the fan noise or get a higher resolution.

However, if you do go with a Digital Galaxy projector I can strongly recommend the seller I used.  I was more than satisfied with the service, regardless of how the projector works out for me.
