Replacement Lens Cap for a Nikon Coolpix P80 (LC-CP18)
Written by Brian on October 26, 2009 – 8:58 pm -Last year, I bought a Nikon Coolpix P80. It served me well for a while, but I recently upgraded to a Canon t1i with a couple of lenses. More on that later.
One of my many gripes with the Nikon Coolpix P80 (see my review at Associated Content) is that the OEM lens cap is a piece of junk. It doesn’t fit snugly on the camera, and it falls off with the least bit of jostling. I lost mine at a cross country meet a few weeks ago.
I thought it would be easy enough to find a replacement… but apparently not! Most of the retailers I found had it listed as back ordered, and which might be because the new Coolpix P90 uses a new lens cap. I searched for information about a non-Nikon replacement, but couldn’t find any reliable info.
I eventually bought a generic brand lens cap on eBay that was advertised to fit the Coolpix P80. Low and behold, it worked! You can read more about the replacement lens cap in the article I wrote for Associated Content.
