I just can’t seem to get back in my rhythm these past few weeks. I’ve been ridiculously busy with school (both teaching and as a student), and it’s hard to get motivated to run in the cold, dark, December nights. Even when I do get out, the workouts are subpar and I’m left feeling a bit disappointed.
Today was one of those days. I went out for a 5k run. It started off ok – I did the first mile in 7:30. I was kind of fatigued by the end, though, and it showed. The next two miles were both around 9:00 minutes each. /sigh
Oh well. It looks like next Saturday isn’t going to be a great race, but I’m going to go anyway. Bad timing with the flu and a couple weeks of lost motivation really take their toll. I’ll schedule another 5k in the spring and, hopefully, make a much better go of it.
